HOUSEBUILDER Barratt Homes has donated £500 worth of groceries to the Mid Cheshire Foodbank.

The foodbank, part of the Trussell Trust and based near Barratt’s Weaver View development in Townfields Road, has had a busy year with the amount of food packages distributed climbing in recent months.

Items donated were all selected from the foodbank’s current priority list and included nappies, toilet roll, fruit juice, coffee, pasta sauce and tinned food items.

North west sales manager Kate Burrows met with warehouse duty manager Andrew Mallin-Jones to find out more about the work carried out by the foodbank and how the groceries will be used.

She said: “It was a real pleasure to visit the foodbank and see how the groceries will be put to good use.

"As one of the nation’s leading homebuilders we are committed to leaving a lasting legacy in the areas in which we build and we take great pride in supporting organisations such as this.

“We also regularly contribute to local clubs and groups in need via our ‘Our Space Your Place’ scheme and actively look for ways to integrate our developments into the community.”

Andrew said: “We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry.

"That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis.

“We are very grateful for the support given by businesses such as Barratt Homes and hope their example will encourage others to do the same.”
