A BRAND new website has launched in the borough dedicated to helping residents find trusted traders and supporting local businesses.

The new St Helens Trader Register website has listings from dozens of trade professions, including builders, painters and decorators, electricians, locksmiths, pest control, computer repairs, landscapers, disability aid fitters and many more.

Residents can view feedback on traders from other consumers, as well as images and videos of completed work.

The scheme – led by St Helens Council’s Trading Standards team – also provides support, guidance and promotion for its members.

St Helens-based businesses can apply online to join the Trader Register by visiting www.sthelens.gov.uk/traderregister.

To register, traders agree to adhere to a code of practice, which sets out in detail how they should operate, agree to work with Trading Standards to resolve problems if they occur, and are monitored using customer feedback.

The site is designed from the ground up to be viewed on phones and tablets as well as desktops, meaning you can find or review a trader with ease, even if you’re on the go.

St Helens Council’s cabinet member for environmental services, Cllr Lynn Clarke, said: “If you have some work that needs doing around your home, our new Trader Register website is a great place to start. Traders registered with the scheme have all demonstrated their commitment to fair and honest trading practices and delivering good customer service, giving you peace of mind.”
