A REHABILITATION service for women with complex mental health needs has launched in the borough.

Draper House on Park Road is a new 14 bed service providing care bespoke to each individual and their needs planning out the patient's journey from point of referral to recovery.

It was officially opened last month by outgoing mayor Pat Ireland and mayoress Lynn Glover.

Lindsay Abraham, the Hospital director, said: "The opening of Draper House is an exciting time for all involved, the facility will be of immense benefit to females who require support with their recovery and progression towards community living.

"A service in St Helen's is needed, allowing people to be treated closer to home where they know the surroundings and have family support available to them.

"There is a national focus at present on increasing awareness of mental health and supporting those affected, Draper House will provide the support and encouragement required to enable recovery and independent living.

"We have been welcomed by the local community in St Helens and are working closely with the local community groups, the church, shops and have already employed a number of staff from the area."

Mayor Pat Ireland added: “A beautiful hospital, well appointed with caring and friendly staff, this is a great asset for St Helens I wish you all well. Good Luck”.
