Meanwhile, Lower Sixth student Kirsten Bottom took part in a series of Hockey matches as part of the North West Female Barbarian team. She secured a sixth place finish.

As well as their individual achievements, the Carmel girls helped the North West region finish in sixth place out of the eleven regions competing.

AoC Sport Managing Director, Marcus Kingwell said: “Despite tough times for colleges, more than 130 took part in this year’s National Championships. This proves just how much colleges value sport and recognise its positive impact on students. Sport is a great way to engage directly with young people. It’s been a privilege to help over 1,700 students enjoy the excitement, teamwork and friendship that comes from being part of this amazing sporting event.”
