HUNDREDS of vans and motorcycles have lined up in procession today, Friday, in tribute to dad-of-two Ian Glanister who died last month in a crash.

Former policeman Ian, from Parr, was on his way home from work at Egertons Recovery in Knutsford on Thursday, March 28 when he was involved in the fatal crash.

Ian was riding his motorcycle on Manchester Road when a crash occurred with a car leaving Cottons Hotel at around 6.25pm.

The 29-year-old leaves behind wife Leighanne and two daughters Jennifer, five and Megan, nine.

The vehicle cortège is made up of friends of Ian who loved modified vehicles and other group members who are supporting his family.

All of the vehicles involved had orange rosettes, Ian's initials and black ribbons tied on.

The procession set off from the St Helens RFC's stadium, where Ian watched his hometown play, and made its way to St Helens Crematorium for a service.

The crematorium was packed out with mourners, many with biker gear, to pay tribute to Ian.

His wife Leighanne, said: “You were my everything and always will be.  

"I will love you till eternity. Ever mine, ever thine, ever ours.” 

His two daughters and other mourners wore orange flowers in Ian’s memory. 

Donations from the service will be given to Blood Bikes, a voluntary organisation which offers out of hours transport for urgent and emergency items such as blood.
