TATTON MP Esther McVey received a first-class experience as she became a postie for the day in Wilmslow.
The Tatton MP was invited to see for herself the lengths Royal Mail goes to in delivering the UK’s mail.
Ms McVey joined postman Gareth Trimble, who has been delivering mail for 30 years.
She said: “Postmen and postwomen perform an incredibly important role in our communities across my constituency, not just delivering letters and parcels, but also for being part of an organisation that plays such a key role in keeping the UK connected.
“I wanted to get a real understanding of the work that goes into delivering the mail on a daily basis.
“There can be no better way of getting that insight than actually going out and doing the job alongside a postman or woman.”

Darren Taylor, Royal Mail Delivery Manager at Wilmslow Delivery Office, briefed Ms McVey before she set off on his delivery round.
He said: “We’re delighted that Esther McVey took the time to experience the everyday challenges faced by our postmen and postwomen who are so often at the heart of their communities.
“The visit gave us the opportunity to show Esther how we are continuing to modernise and transform our organisation.

“We have invested in new sorting and delivery equipment as we respond to the changing nature of the modern postbag.
“We’re also continually looking to make our services even better to give customers greater convenience as they shop online.”
