RESIDENTS have been thanked for coming to the aid of a motorcyclist who was killed in a collision in Knutsford on Thursday.
Father-of-two Ian Glanister, 29, from St Helens, died at the scene after his motorbike was in collision with a car next to the Cottons Hotel on Manchester Road at 6.24pm.
Ian was on his way home from work at Egertons Recovery in Knutsford when he was involved in the fatal crash.
His wife Leighanne said: “What is a great comfort to me is that off-duty doctors and nurses and even anaesthetists immediately worked on him before the ambulance could even get there.
“Police there said they had never seen so many people try to help like that.
“The people there in Knutsford just came together to try and help Ian, he was already gone I’m told, but that means so much to know straight away someone tried their best to save him.
“Thank you to everyone who tried to bring my husband back to us, it means so much that you all tried.”
Ian Glanister
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, and would like to speak to anyone who might have seen the incident or either vehicle just before the collision.
If you have any information about the incident call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number IML 359362, or send information via cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries/
