BOUTIQUE managing director Penelope Rawson is looking to move across town into new Knutsford premises this summer.

Penelope owns The Edit Boutique, which has had a shop in Canute Place, Knutsford for the past two years.

She is hoping to move the boutique into a former jewellers’ shop in King Street by early summer.

The Edit has shops in Knutsford, Alderley Edge, Hale and Didsbury, and recently won a Drapers Industry Award for best store design.

Hale opened in 2016, followed by the Knutsford, Didsbury and Alderley Edge shop openings in October 2016, September 2017 and April 2018 respectively.

Penelope, from Lymm, is seeking permission to replace a shop front at the empty premises earmarked for the boutique.

Permission to replace the 1984 shop front at 91 King Street is being sought from Cheshire East Council.

Knutsford Guardian:

The former jewellers in King Street

Penelope said: “The existing shop has been adapted over many years by the existing and previous owners, and has served a number of uses, including a jewellers and butchers.

“We believe the business will draw footfall to King Street, and its presence will further enhance the current retail offering of the town and improve the aesthetic appearance of King Street.

“The Edit has been featured in local press, Living Edge, Cheshire Life editorial and on ITV’s The Real Housewives of Cheshire as well as a pop-up shop in House of Fraser.

“The addition of a high-quality fashion store to King Street will be a benefit to the local area, bringing further improved footfall to the centre of the town, and encouraging trade in the town in general.

“Replacement of the windows is essential in bringing this unit back to commercial use, being necessary for adequate display of goods, sufficient usage of shop floor space and for improved natural lighting in a store with only one other exterior window.”

Comments on the application can be submitted via the Cheshire East Council planning portal until May 2.
