JUST over 200 people took part in the annual Knutsford Jog on Sunday at the Moor.

The event organisers joined forces with the Remembering Nell Foundation to support families on low income and children with autism and disabilities.

The sponsored family fun run is organised by the Rotary Club of Knutsford, and this year people from Holmes Chapel were invited to lace up their trainers and join in the fun.

"The Knutsford Jog proved to be a great hit," said event chairman Alan Ingram.

"Over two hundred joggers of all ages raised money for the Wingate Centre, Cheshire Autism and the Wood Street Mission charities.

"Another reason for the Jog was to remember Nell Jones, the young girl from Goostrey who was killed in the Manchester Arena terrorist attack.

"It was the Remembering Nell Foundation charity which worked with us and suggested the three charities we collected money for.

"It took a lot of work on to organise the Jog, but I came away thinking what a great bunch of people helped us.

"Not just the Rotary Jog team and the other club members, but also their wives, ladies of the Inner Wheel and Women’s Institute, Sarah Flannery’s Knutsford Hosts, Knutsford Fire Station, which brought its fire engine and also ran in the Jog.

"Also, Michelle Hammond, who sorted out the social media for us and 30 local companies and businesses who provided the programme advertising, Sheldon’s Dairy, which provided the door-to-door advertising, and the Tatton Perk coffee van, that proved a blessing early on the Sunday, and the Knutsford Guardian which has supported us for 20 years.

"One way or another, it took about one hundred people‘s time and or money to stage the event. So thank you to all those wonderful people in Knutsford, Goostrey and Holmes Chapel. You all made a fantastic team."

Rotary Club publicity officer Ken Jones said: “It was a really fun day, and the runners, three-quarters of who were young people, were set off by the Knutsford Mayor Cllr Peter Coan.

“I would like to thank everyone who took part and supported us, and all those who entered received a badge and certificate stating how many laps they had completed.”
