Surbiton Hill Road in Kingston was forced to close on Thursday (March) as emergency services rushed to the scene of a crash.

At 11:50am, Thursday, Kingston Council (RBK) announced the road closure on Twitter, urging residents and road users to seek alternative routes and transport if necessary, and adding that emergency services were attending the scene.

RBK said: "TRAFFIC ALERT: The road is currently closed at the Surbiton Hill Park junction with Maple Road due to an accident. Emergency services are on the scene."

Transport for London (TfL) reported that several bus routes in the area were on diversion while first responders worked at the scene of the collision, while the circumstances around the apparent road accident began to emerge Thursday afternoon.

TfL said: "SURBITON HILL ROAD, KT5: Routes 406 and 418 are diverted via Surbiton Crescent, Claremont Road and St Marks Hill due to a collision on Surbiton Hill Road. Buses are unable to serve Maplehurst Close and Surbiton Hill Road/Hollyfield School stops."

UPDATE: RBK said that the Surbiton Hill Road closed due to the traffic collision was re-opened shortly after 12pm.
