WILMSLOW solicitor Hilary Meredith has won the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award at The Manchester Legal Awards 2019.

Hilary was presented with her award at a black-tie dinner at The Midland Hotel in Manchester.

Now in their tenth year, the Manchester Legal Awards recognise and reward the range of skills and talent the region has to offer.

Hilary said: “I am truly honoured to collect this award. So many people have helped me along the way.

“I’ve also been fortunate to work with, and represent, so many inspirational individuals throughout my career - injured soldiers, bereaved families who have lost loved ones in war zones throughout the world and people from all walks of life who have overcome the odds and stood up for what is right."

Michelle Garlick, President of the Manchester Law Society said: " Hilary has carved a reputation as one of the trailblazers of her generation and is extremely deserving of this coveted accolade.

"Throughout her career she has fought for the equal representation of women in the industry along with striving for the rights of military service personnel, their families and military veterans.

“Looking back over such an impressive career, Hilary was an obvious choice for this award.”

Hilary started her legal career in 1982 and rose to become the youngest ever managing partner of a 300-strong Manchester city centre law firm at the age of 29.

In 2003, she set up her own niche firm, Hilary Meredith Solicitors, based on Water Lane in Wilmslow, specialising in legal help and assistance to the armed forces and their families.
