Volunteers arranged a stall outside the front entrance of St Helier Hospital to help raise awareness as part of World Kidney Day.

The volunteers from The Kidney Fund brought attention to hospital visitors and passers-by about looking after one’s kidneys and reducing the risk of disease.

Nick Ford, a trustee of The Kidney Fund, said: “I decided to do ‘our bit’ for World Kidney Day because it’s important to give something back by raising awareness of this life-threatening problem.

“The more people know about kidney health, the better.”

The group of volunteers from The Kidney Fund were also joined by the Mayor of Sutton, Cllr Steve Cook, for a tour of the hospital’s renal unit and the Institute of Renal Research.

He was joined by the scientific director of the Research Institute Dr Mark Dockrell.

World Kidney Day 2019 was held on March 14.
