THIS term pupils at Bexton Primary School have been learning how to be more environmentally-friendly by reducing, re-using and recycling single-use plastics.
In their lessons the children have been learning about how single-use plastics are getting into the oceans and harming sea creatures and other wildlife.
The children have responded to this global problem by picking up litter and persuading their families to reduce the amount of single-use plastics they use.
Year 5 children staged an assembly to share with their families everything they learned through the project.
During the February holidays the children were set the challenge to design and make a sea creature using single-use plastics.
Deputy headteacher Jill Sach said: “The models they brought in were absolutely fantastic.
“We’ve been blown away by the enthusiasm of the children to really make a difference to the environment. It gives us great hope for the future of the planet.”
