FITNESS fans burned off thousand of calories to raise thousands of pounds for a foundation set up in memory of teenager Nell Jones.

The seven-strong team raised £2,900 for the Remembering Nell Foundation by taking part in a series of training sessions at JWC Health and Fitness in Holmes Chapel yesterday.

The fundraisers who took part in the Mission Impossible challenge were Beth Hancock, Lucy Walsh, Gemma Parsons, Dave Brown, Steve Morrison, Jason McEwan and Eddy Knightsbridge.

“Three to four thousand calories were burned during the challenge, and we had a lot of exhausted but ecstatic people come 8 o’clock last night,” said JWC director Jack Curr.

“We have raised £2,900, which we’re hoping will top £3,000 by the end of the weekend.

“The event was a gruelling 14 hours of high intensity exercises, and I would like to thank everyone who has given donations.”

The team took part in all eight training sessions at the gym, starting at 6am and finishing at 8pm.

The Remembering Nell Foundation was set up in memory of Nell Jones, who was killed in the bomb explosion at the Manchester Arena.

Jason McEwan works for CBRE, which donated £350 to the fundraiser, which was supported through a justgiving page and via offline donations.

Mission Impossible was one of a series of events being staged by JWC in 2019 for the foundation, its chosen charity for the year after raising almost £1,000 last year for Manchester Children’s Hospital.

A charity DJ night was held last month for the foundation, JWC is taking part in Born Survivor at Capesthorne Hall in May, and another charity DJ night will be held in June.
