KNUTSFORD Jog organisers are joining forces with the Remembering Nell Foundation to support families on low income and children with autism and disabilities.

The sponsored family fun run is organised by the Rotary Club of Knutsford, and the 2019 event takes place at the Moor in Knutsford on Sunday, March 24.

The event opens at 9.30am, and runners set off at 10.30am, with the run ending at 11.30am.

This year people from Holmes Chapel are invited to lace up their trainers and join in the fun.

“This year we are joining forces with the Remembering Nell Foundation, a charity set up in memory of Nell Jones, a teenager from Goostrey, who at just 14 years old lost her life in the Manchester Arena attack,” said Rotary club publicity officer Ken Jones.

“The charity’s principal aim is to ensure Nell and the other victims are not forgotten.

“Nell’s parents decided that money donated after the attack would be better spent by supporting other charities, particularly those in the north west, which helped disadvantaged young people - hence the formation of the Remembering Nell Foundation.

“They suggested to us that this year’s Jog should support Wood Street Mission in Manchester, Cheshire Autism Practical Support and The Wingate Centre.”

Wood Street Mission supports families living on a low income who struggle to make ends meet.

Cheshire Autism Practical Support supports and educates parents, and The Wingate Centre is home to the Wingate Special Children’s Trust, a charity devoted to enriching the lives of children and young people with disabilities.

The annual jog will also be helping other charities and good causes supported by the Rotary Club of Knutsford.

Ken added: “Following the closure of our sister Rotary club in Holmes Chapel we have invited people from the village to participate in this year’s Knutsford Jog.

“We feel it is particularly fitting since Nell was a student from Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School.

“So pupils and their families from her school, and others in the village, will be able to join us in the 2019 Jog.

“We are delighted to be working with the Remembering Nell Foundation as we spread our net a little wider this year across the north-west.”

This year’s jog is supported by The Knutsford Guardian, Ultimate and Sheldon’s Dairy.
