DRIVERS are being sought to take patients to their GP and hospital appointments.
The call comes from Knutsford Good Neighbours, which has been thanked for its support by the town’s GPs.
David Jones, the group’s joint chairman, said that at the group’s recent annual meeting members were delighted to hear of a letter of thanks to the group from the doctors from the Toft Road surgery.
He said the letter thanked members for their help in providing assistance during the past year, ensuring that deserving patients from the three local practices, Toft Road, Manchester Road and Annandale, were able to attend at the surgeries and local hospitals.
Mr Jones said: “The service provided ensures that valuable NHS appointments are not wasted, enabling the most vulnerable patients to receive the health care they deserve.”
He said in recent months there had been a reduction in the availability of drivers.
He added: “To maintain the service we need to recruit a few more local drivers to help with this valuable work. The service operates through the telephone system and expenses are paid.”
Knutsford Good Neighbours receives an average of 20 requests a week for transport assistance, and if you can offer your driving services, or for more information, call Mr Jones on 01565 653536.
