CHURCH organist David Williams is inviting people to come along to enjoy an afternoon of music for all the family.

The Music from the Movies concert takes place at St Wilfrid’s Church in Mobberley on Saturday, March 30 at 2pm, with David performing the family-friendly tunes.

Refreshments will be available and admission is free, but there will be the opportunity to make a donation.

The concert will consist of two 30-minute halves, and include music from popular children’s films of the past few years, including Let it Go from Frozen and How far I'll Go from Moana, as well as such classics as I Wan'na Be Like You from the Jungle Book and the Captain Hook Waltz from Peter Pan.

Finally there will be renditions of some popular songs, such as Happy by Pharrell Williams.

The concert is a great opportunity to bring the children and grandchildren with you and join in the fun.

The church has given £510 raised for the Mampong Babies Home in Ghana. This was in addition to the money donated in November for Berem Clinic.

The home is an orphanage which provides care and nutrition to new-born babies and children until they are about four years old.

Bishop Cyril, Bishop of Mampong thanked the church for the donation.

He said: “The funds will be used to cover expenses on food and to supplement the salaries of the casual workers.

“The planning is in place for the mobile clinic as we have started work on two sites for the running of the clinic.

“We now need funds to procure a strong vehicle and accessories for an ambulance that will be trekking the villages.”

St Wilfrid's has been involved with Mampong Babies Home for a decade.

The Rector of St Wilfrid's, Ian Blay, became involved with Mampong Babies Home while in his previous parish of St Andrew, Droylsden, where he got to know the Venerable Elvis Acheampong, who had been Vicar at Mampong.

When Ian moved to Mobberley he brought that link with him.
