A WRITING project is to be launched to help continue the legacy of much-loved poet Len Saunders.

Writers in residence Sue Gerrard and Ann Ellis are seeking between five and seven people interested in getting involved in the project at the Writing Room at Lucem House Community Cinema.

The project will see writers get involved in workshops every three to four weeks and produce works with a view to performing them or having them performed at Lucem House.

Sue said: "We are looking to recruit another five or seven people with a view to performing their work or having it performed on their behalf.

"The work will be group-led, if people want to do short stories we will focus on that, it's what people want to be instructed in.

"At the Len Banana Day we raised some funding and that funding is going back into the writing room. It's to help local writers to learn more about writing and have their work performed.

"It is keeping Len's memory alive and giving back to the community. Something good is coming out of something tragic."

The first event is scheduled to take place on Monday, March 18 from 2pm to 3.30pm.

Anyone interested in being involved can contact Sue on 07985556539. People must express an interest by Saturday, March 9.
