THE Canute Kids Duathlon will be expanding across the region this summer before returning to Knutsford for a third year in July.

The team behind the popular run-bike-run and fun run events have launched the Canute Kids Duathlon Series, a trio of races across the north west and north Wales.

Since 2017 the races have given children a taste of multi-sport events in the safe surroundings of Egerton Youth Club.

“Last year the community really got behind it and we had over 135 children taking part, so we are delighted to be back this year and have some really exciting plans,” said organiser Vicky McKinnon.

The series will kick off in Lymm on May 12, then head to Wrexham on June 30, before the finale in Knutsford on July 7, where the overall series winners will be crowned.

“We’ve witnessed the positive impact the Canute Duathlon has on children and parents in Knutsford, and want others to benefit from it too,” said fellow organiser Helen Murray said.

“That’s why we’ll be organising three races this summer which are all aimed at having fun, testing yourself and giving it your best, in a safe environment.”

Vicky added: “If we can inspire one child and one parent to lead a healthier, active life, then we’ll be happy.”

Children taking part in the duathlon will need a bike in good working order and a helmet.

The duathlon races will be open to children over five years of age and there will be a fun run option too. All finishers will receive a goody bag and a medal and there will be prizes on offer for the duathlon races.

Duathlon races will cost £12 each (£15 on the day,) or you can enter all three events for £30. The fun run will be £6 (£7 on the day).
