MANCHESTER Airport’s international artist in residence's latest work is to be exhibited at a special event to celebrate Burns night.

Rob Pointon, who became the airport’s artist in residence in 2016, recently visited Inverness and Orkney with Loganair to capture the beauty of Scotland in his paintings.

He will be showcasing his work tomorrow, January 25, at a Scottish-themed Platform Airport City event at the Manchester Airport interchange.

The Platform Airport City event is free to attend, and will take place between 11.30am and 2pm.

Loganair will also be attending and offering one lucky visitor the chance to win a pair of flights to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis.

Rob, from Cheshire, will also be on hand to talk about his latest work. Scenes painted include Scapa Flow, Kirkwall Harbour, Aviemore and the Cairngorn Mountains as Rob battled the Scottish winter.

Rob said: “I am enormously grateful to Loganair and Manchester Airport for giving me the opportunity to further explore some far-flung corners of our beautiful country.

“The colours of Scotland are unique, the clear air can give the great glens and mountains a startling blue appearance. I hope visitors to Manchester Airport enjoy our Burns Night exhibition and are inspired to set off on their own Scottish adventure.”

Platform Airport City, located within Manchester Airport’s Transport Interchange, is a vibrant and interactive space for visitors and employees working at Airport City Manchester to socialise, network and enjoy food and drink from around the world.
