FRIENDS of the Moor are inviting people to a major birdwatch taking place in Knutsford this weekend.

The group’s next event is the annual RSPB Birdwatch on the Moor on Saturday from 9am to 10am.

The Knutsford Ornithological Society will be there to help identify the birds being spotted.

Cllr Andrew Malloy said: “I would urge councillors and the public to try and get up nice and early on Saturday morning and have a look at the amazing array of birds that come to the Moor.”

Group chairman Adam Keppel-Green said three people had expressed an interest in volunteering with the group over the past few months.

He said: “We are in desperate need of volunteers. Our group had diminished to a core of four regular attendees at meetings.

“One volunteer will be organising the Play Day event, which has not been held since 2016 as we have not had the resource to run it.”

The group has applied to the Cheshire East New Homes Bonus fund for a grant towards installing a wooden trim trail.

Adam added: “We have selected a number of items of equipment that can be installed individually, enabling us to gradually design a trim trail which goes across the Moor and into the Barncroft, and which can be used by both adults and children.”
