Clwydian Range Food & Drink Group

ELLIS Barrie, chef patron of the award-winning Marram Grass Restaurant in Newborough Anglesey and a finalist on the Great British Menu 2018, will be the guest of the Clwydian Range Food & Drink Group next week.

There will be an open event at the Brookhouse Mill, Denbigh next Monday, January 28.

An Audience with Ellis Barrie will give local businesses in North East Wales the opportunity to hear the success story of the Marram Grass and to chat with and question Ellis about his culinary journey and his business in Newborough. Clwydian Range Food & Drink Group chair Dave Jones said: "It is really exciting for us to have Ellis at this meeting.

"He has a great reputation for fantastic food and working with local producers to ensure his menus have a real flavour of the local area and have the best quality fresh ingredients.

"Here in North East Wales, we too have amazing food producers and some great restaurants and hospitality businesses, but we are always keen to learn from others.

"We are fortunate to have the support of Cadwyn Clwyd to promote this event, which means it is free of charge for all food, drink, hospitality and tourism businesses in North East Wales.

"We are also grateful to the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with whom we work closely and who support our work."

Gwyn Rowlands, of Cadwyn Clwyd, added: "It is fantastic for local businesses to have opportunities such as this to learn from others and especially when we have such an emerging food and drink sector that is having an increasing contribution to tourism and the local economy."

Debbie Handley, of Mostyn Kitchen Garden and a member of the Clwydian Range Food & Drink Group, said: "Being part of this group really helps my business by providing learning opportunities such as this but also in meeting other food producers and hospitality businesses to share experiences and to do business to business trading."

This event has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities - Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.
