IF you're a fan of aviation, action and adventure, love sports and getting to know people, Knutsford Air Cadets could be just the thing for you.

2056 (Knutsford) Squadron Air Cadets is holding a recruitment open evening on Thursday, January 31, from 7pm to 9pm at the Joint Cadet Training Centre in Blackhill Lane, Knutsford.

Squadron Pilot Officer Mark Hughes said: “Every year air cadets and volunteer staff take part in exciting events all over the country.

“We're not a recruiting organisation for the Services, but it's great if you decide you want to join later on.

“We're interested in helping you achieve your potential, and will help you get the most from your experience as a cadet.

“We have a progressive training programme, starting the basics of being a cadet, including keeping your uniform clean and smart, learning drill, field craft skills and communication and basic navigation lessons.

“Our training also includes exciting topics such as radio, cyber security, shooting, first aid, Duke of Edinburgh Award, aviation, flying opportunities and the chance to be part of the squadron regimental band.

“You will also have the opportunity to gain BTEC certificates and diplomas, as well as leadership and management qualifications from the Institute of Leadership and Management.

“The cadet experience is open to everyone, so whatever your nationality, background or ability, whether you're male or female, if you're aged between 12 (school year 8) and 17 you can join us.

“If you are 18 plus and want to enjoy all our cadet activities, you could join as an adult volunteer.

“To find out more, come and speak to the cadets and staff at our open evening. Please let us know if you are planning to come along, for us to safely and adequately cater for visitor numbers.”
