VILLAGERS have been thanked for their support for a popular sleigh run which has raised thousands of pounds for local groups.

Santa’s sleigh run through Holmes Chapel started on December 4, and the running of the event has been taken over by the Holmes Chapel Partnership.

The routes and nights were slightly different to previous years to accommodate the new estates in the village.

Partnership chairman Stuart Gammon said: “We would like to thank everyone who helped maintain and refurbish Santa’s Sleigh this year, including Holmes Chapel Scouts and Jubilee Garage.

“Thanks also to all the teams who braved the weather and managed the sleigh runs throughout December, and the people of Holmes Chapel and neighbouring villages who gave so generously.

“Throughout this period we endeavoured to visit as many of the estates and roads in Holmes Chapel, Cranage, Allostock, Goostrey, Brereton and Somerford as we could.

“We are due to announce the total raised by the middle of January, and would like to thank organisations for their support.”

Thanks went to Brereton Scouts, Holmes Chapel Pre-School, Dane Sound Radio, Holmes Chapel Scouts, Fire Brigade, Holmes Chapel Tangent, Goostrey Scouts, Old Rotarians, Holmes Chapel 41 Club, Remembering Nell Foundation, Holmes Chapel Guides and Viking Explorer Scout Unit.
