ACTION by police is paying off in cutting anti-social behaviour, says PCSO Liz Chesters.

PCSO Chesters covers the Dane Valley and Brereton Rural area, which includes Holmes Chapel, Goostrey and Cranage.

“As a community we are being given positive feedback on how little anti-social behaviour we are seeing in the area,” she said.

“We have confirmed there has been a 71 per cent decrease in anti-social behaviour incidents reported in our area compared to this time last year.

“This is felt and reiterated among the residents and businesses, and it is encouraging to us to know our work is paying off for you.

“Furthermore, we would like to encourage our community to report any suspicious activity to us on 101, or via the local contact mailbox - Crewe.LPU@cheshire.pnn.police.uk.

“With Christmas in mind, we try and prioritise the residents who unfortunately may be quite lonely at this time of year, and we would ask if you could spare a minute in your day to check on your elderly neighbours and residents.

“It would be greatly appreciated, not only by us, but I’m sure they would appreciate the thought also.

“As the nights grow darker and colder we could all do with a friendly face checking in on us.”

Officers conducted an operation in the area called Operation Grounded to target speeding, drink/drug driving, driving while using a mobile phone and driving without wearing a seatbelt.

PCSO Chesters said: “Our PCSOs monitored the parking at all schools in the morning, with no offences being committed.

“We stopped two vehicles for using their mobile phones and caught 17 vehicles speeding with our speed enforcement gun.”

The next dates for the community meetings police hold are, December 14, 7pm to 8pm, parish council office, Holmes Chapel, December 19, 11am to midday, Holmes Chapel Community Centre, and December 30, 2.30pm to 3.30pm, parish council office, Holmes Chapel

PCSO Chesters added: “If you are interested in more of our activity please follow us on social media, where we are able to speak directly to you as our community about incidents and crimes we are finding in the area.

“Please like our Facebook page, Dane Valley Police, or follow or Twitter account @DaneValleyPol. If you need to contact us, please ring 101, and leave a message with the control room.”
