RUDHEATH Senior Academy Year 11 students have delivered a boxing workshop to younger students as they work towards a sports leadership certificate.

The four England Boxing JBO Award students have been working with Queensberry Alternative Provision over the past 11 weeks to develop skills and confidence to lead non-contact boxing activities.

At the workshop on Monday, they taught younger students boxing basics before moving on to some fun competition.

Paul Cooper of Queensberry AP said: “We couldn’t more proud of the Year 11s in their preparation and delivery of the workshop. They have worked so hard over the past term and it really paid off. All of the younger students really enjoyed themselves and were even asking when the coaches would be back to deliver more sessions.”

The Year 11s will enjoy a graduation ceremony next week to celebrate their achievements during the 12 Rounds programme. They will receive certificates and awards including their England Boxing JBO and AQA Unit Awards.

Nic Martin of Queensberry AP said: “It has been a fantastic experience to see the students achieve so much over the course of the 12 Rounds and for them to gain their England Boxing JBO is the icing on the cake.

“The workshop and the confidence with which they delivered to the younger students is one of the highlights of the past twelve weeks.”
