FIRECREWS from Crewe and Holmes Chapel helped free the occupants of two cars and a lorry from their vehicles after a collision between junctions 17-16 Southbound on the M6 motorway.

Nobody was trapped or injured during the incident last night, but fire crews helped police colleagues in moving the vehicles and the occupants to the hard shoulder of the motorway so that the road could re-open.

They were in attendance for around 20 minutes.

The lane was closed for several hours while the debris was cleared.
