A WILLY Wonka inspired design for a Runcorn care home’s sweets and snacks trolley has won funds for residents.

Simonsfield Care Home, on Boston Avenue, was picked from dozens of entries in the Hill Care Group’s Pimp My Trolley competition.

They have been awarded £125 for their entry, which includes a life size Oompa-Loompa, played by the home’s activities coordinator Alison Massey.

The trolley is decorated with giant, inflatable sweets, balloons and candy canes, fairy lights and a W emblem from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Alison said: “I decided to go the extra mile for the Pimp My Trolley competition and dressed as an Oompa-Loompa for the entry photograph.”

“We were delighted to win, with all the funds going into our residents’ fund, which contributes towards day trips and activities for the residents.”

The Pimp My Trolley competition, which follows the concept of hit noughties MTV show Pimp My Ride, was organised by the Hill Care Group.

The group operates care homes across the north of England, including Simonsfield Care Home.
