A COMMUNITY group with a six-figure budget is inviting residents to get involved in deciding how the money should be spent.

The Rudheath and Witton Together (RWT) partnership was awarded £1 million of Lottery funding in 2013 as part of a 10-year programme to help make the area a better place to live.

Fiona Cowley, project manager for RWT, said: “We had an event like this a couple of months ago and it was great to see so many people with ideas and enthusiasm to improve their local area.”

“We want people to realise that RWT is changing. We want it to be more fun and over the next two years we are investing more into local people so that they feel that they have the skills and confidence to make a positive difference to their community.”

"We’ve been told that events and activities for young people, reducing loneliness, and helping families with young children are priorities for our residents, so we’re really keen to hear from local people who can help tackle these challenges”.

"You might not have thought that RWT is for you in the past but we're changing the way that we do things and we want residents to lead the project and tell us what is important to them."

"As a partnership member, you decide who we award grants to, help us to get the word out about what we're doing and make sure that we're making the best use of the money."

"It's a very informal evening and, even if you can just pop in for a quick drink and to find out more about what we do, we hope that as many people as possible can make it."
