POLICE have slammed a speeder for doing 44mph on a 30mph road in Holmes Chapel.
The driver was one of 17 caught breaking the speed limit in Macclesfield Road yesterday, Friday.
The speed enforcement was part of Operation Grounded.
A police spokesman said: “The highest speed validated was 44mph which is completely unacceptable.”
Police urge drivers to slow down, stressing that the 30 limit is there for a reason.
Officers were also on Macclesfield Road yesterday monitoring the 7.5-tonne weight limit to ensure no vehicles were contravening the restriction.
Last month 16 drivers were issued with police warning letters after exceeding the 30mph limit in Goostrey.
Police thanked the Community Speedwatch team for giving its time over a number of dates during a two-week period.
