FLORIST Myke Caulton has been overwhelmed with the reaction to his novel poppy display outside his new Chelford business.

Myke, from Sale, has opened Myke Caulton Floral Couture in Station Road, and has created a display of 500 poppies to mark this year’s Remembrance commemorations.

Myke, 53, said: “I have been a florist for 24 years, and have always wanted to do something for Remembrance, as it’s part of our heritage, especially with this year being the centenary of the end of the First World War.

“Without those people who gave their lives we would not have the freedoms we enjoy today.

“The display features a wicker horn with an explosion of poppies coming out of it.

“It is outside the front of the shop, and the response to the display has been overwhelming.

“I have had children coming across with their teachers and taking photographs, and a lot of elderly people coming in and thanking me for doing something for Remembrance.

“I have been very pleased with the response to the display, which will stay up until the week after Remembrance.”

Myke has opened his business in a former newsagents shop, which had been empty for 12 months.
