CHESHIRE Search and Rescue team has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – the top honour for volunteer groups.
The award was presented by David Briggs, Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, at the Deanwater Hotel, which is the team’s training base.
Simon Lane, team leader, said: “The whole team is delighted to receive this award, which can be aligned to receiving an ‘MBE for charities’. It’s a real honour to have our work over the last 14 years recognised in this way and a wonderful thank you to those who give up their time and expertise to make the team what it is today.”
Deputy Lieutenant of Cheshire John Thomson becomes a patron.
