Dr Rangan Chatterjee opened the Combined Charities Christmas Card shop in Wilmslow library on October 27.

The shop looked as festive as ever with its range of more than 300 different card designs from 30 local and national charities available to purchase from now until December 8.

GP, bestselling author and BBC TV presenter on the Breakfast Show, Dr Chatterjee said: “I am delighted to support such an incredible local initiative.

I am amazed that it has been running for 47 years and has raised over £5 million!

“I will be buying all of my Christmas cards here this year.”

Dr Chatterjee spent 30 minutes chatting with customers and volunteers whilst browsing the shop and buying cards. He was impressed at the range of cards available and the fact that all sales go to the charities as all volunteers give their time for free.

Founder of the Christmas Card Shops, Sheila Hallas MBE said: “We were thrilled that Dr Chatterjee could attend to launch our 2018 shop. Having such a celebrity visit was a great boost for all the volunteers who give up their time not just in the festive period, but all year in the planning of this very special initiative.”

The Wilmslow shop in the library is open every day during Library hours December 8.

Shops are also in libraries in the Knutsford Curzon Cinema.

Full details of opening times can be found at christmas-cards.org.uk.

Cards can also be purchased on line.
