CHILDREN are being invited to make their own lanterns as part of Knutsford’s Christmas celebrations.

Knutsford Town Council’s festive plans are well under way, with some great events organised for December.

Look out for the new Christmas in Knutsford booklet, which includes a round-up of local festive events throughout next month.

The first weekend in December will see the Christmas festivities begin with a two-day festive market, featuring a reindeer parade, entertainment and lights-switch on in Canute Place on the Saturday of the event.

The owners of Tatton Street’s Caledonian House, Bruntwood, are supporting the town council by sponsoring the lights on Tatton Street.

Now in its fifth year, Knutsford’s Lantern Parade and Crib Service will be taking place on Saturday, December 8 at 5pm.

With large lantern displays designed and crafted by Handmade Parade, the parade will be accompanied by the City of Chester Brass Band.

The procession will be led from the Barncroft behind St Cross Church, along King Street, Minshull Street and Princess Street, where a crib service will be held in front of the Lost and Found.

Free lantern-making workshops will be held on Saturday, November 17 at the council offices, where children aged over five can create their own lantern to show in the parade.

Due to popular demand the afternoon workshop is now fully booked, but spaces remain on the morning session, which begins at 10.30am. If you would like to reserve a space please email alex.brow@knutsfordtowncouncil.gov.uk or call the council offices on 01565 653929, providing the child’s name, age and contact details of the adult attending.
