KNUTSFORD bike shop Bikes N Gear will be opening its doors to cake lovers, walkers and baking fans on Saturday, November 17 to support a Chelford fundraiser.

Fitness enthusiast Helen Murray is trying to raise more than £15,000 through sales of her charity recipe book Fuelled by More Cake.

The book costs £10, and all the money raised is going to East Cheshire Hospice, Melanoma UK and Young Epilepsy.

“I’ve raised over £12,500 so far, but I’ve exhausted my network, so I’m really grateful to Bikes N Gear for giving me an opportunity to get the word out there,” said Murray.

“There’ll be plenty of yummy homemade cakes for sale from the book, and we’ll be doing teas and coffees too, so hopefully shoppers and visitors alike will pop in to show their support.”

It’s the second charity recipe book the Chelford-based Triathlon Coach and Nordic Walking Instructor has produced in recent years. Helen added: “I raised £9,000 from my first book, Fuelled by Cake, but decided to set the fundraising target even higher this time, because I am so passionate about the charities and I believe this book is even better.

“The whole ethos is about combining my passion for sport and cake. With that in mind, as well as selling books and cakes, I will also be offering some free Nordic Walking taster sessions from Bikes N Gear at 9.45am and 11am on Saturday, November 17.

Paul Bonner, owner of Bikes N Gear in King Street said: “Helen works incredibly hard to help others, so we are delighted to be able to support her project. I just hope I get to sample some of the bakes!”

Copies of Fuelled by More Cake will also be available to buy at Bikes N Gear in the run-up to Christmas.
