A KNIFE crime awareness workshop will take place at Barons Quay tomorrow, Wednesday, in a bid to stem the increase in incidents across Cheshire.

Queensberry Alternative Provision (AP) has teamed up with Odeon cinemas to offer the event to secondary and primary school children.

Queensberry AP works with students and promotes a restorative approach to behaviour management.

The free workshop, from 9.30am to 11.30am, will see children educated on the sharp increase in knife crime across the UK, and how to avoid getting caught up in violence.

Figures published in Cheshire showed that knife crime in Cheshire had risen by almost 10 per cent more than the national average.

Starting promptly at 9.30am, the event also includes a hard-hitting presentation by Rob Jackson a trauma nurse with 20 years' A&E experience in Liverpool.

This presentation, not suitable for primary school children, will convey the brutal reality of carrying knives.
