Winnington Park Ladies 6-1 Lymm Ladies 2nd

WINNINGTON Park gave a demonstration of why they are leading goal-scorers in the Cheshire Women’s League’s top-flight by dispatching Lymm.

Leona Wylie was first to a rebound to break the deadlock and she doubled the home team’s lead at Grange School before the break.

Rhona Logie’s double added to their advantage and she was alert to convert a loose ball that had struck an upright to complete a hat-trick.

Jaz Barlow added gloss when she made it 6-0 before the visitors netted a consolation with time running out when concentration wavered in a tiring defence.

Lymm Ladies 3rd 4-0 Winnington Park Ladies 2nd

A THIRD successive defeat is proof that Winnington Park seconds’ adjustment to playing at a higher level isn’t without discomfort.

The Northwich side, boosted by the return of Vicky Curran in the middle of the pitch, trailed 2-0 at the interval.

A contested third, which the visitors’ defenders felt was dangerous, made a comeback more remote before Lymm duly completed the scoring.

Front pair Liv Moynihan and Izzy Warrener were energetic in attack without the reward of a consolation goal.

The campaign resumes next month.
