PUPILS at Cledford Primary School took part in a workshop to commemorate 100 years since the end of the First World War.

Scott Knowles, from Tommy Teaches, visited the school dressed as a soldier from the Great War and showed the youngsters artefacts such as a soldier’s pay book and marching kit.

Jane Booth, headteacher, said: “Children at Cledford have been taking part in a term-long project to commemorate the end of the First World War and its centenary.

“They have used the arts, especially drama, to help them understand what happened and its effect on our lives today.

“Cledford Primary School would like to thank the Heritage Lottery Fund which has funded this project along with Middlewich Heritage Society.”

The aim of Tommy Teaches is to provide a sensory learning experience for the national curriculum for history, specifically the First World War.

Anyone who would like to make an appointment to see the children’s artwork can contact the school office on 01606 288240.

Cledford Primary School will be holding an open day on Tuesday, November 13 from 10am to 2pm.
