WALKERS smiled through the showers as they took part in an event to raise awareness of dementia and support research.

The Sunrise of Mobberley team gathered for a fun and refreshing afternoon Dementia Walk through the grounds of Arley Hall.

The group took a stroll around the Lady Park and woodland paths, enjoying views of Arley Hall along the way.

The event was organised by the Alzheimer’s Society, which works with people all over the country.

It supports those who live with dementia and other related conditions, as well as helping their family and friends.

Sunrise of Mobberley team members, friends and families took part and took the opportunity to reflect on who they were walking for, and left messages on the Memory Tree.

Sunrise of Mobberley joined more than 30 Sunrise Senior Living communities across the country, who also took part in the walk.

The Memory Walk this year hopes to raise £9 million to support everyone affected by dementia, to improve care for people with dementia today and finding a cure for tomorrow.

Dawn Williams, director of community relations at Sunrise of Mobberley, said: “At Sunrise of Mobberley we always strive to take part in events such as the Dementia Walk, and I am so pleased there were so many people who came along.

“It is a wonderful cause and one that is very close to all our hearts. It was a shame about the weather, but the company and the cause more than made up for a little bit of rain.

“Thank you to the Alzheimer’s Society, and I look forward to the next one.”

Current research projects funded by Alzheimer's Society include developing a test to improve diagnosis of different forms of dementia, investigating the best ways to put dementia care research into practice and taking an innovative approach to designing potential treatments for Alzheimer’s.
