THE new Jack’s supermarket has now opened in Middlewich after its first day of trading, it seems it’s a thumbs up from shoppers.

The new budget shop has opened in Southway and people turned out in droves to get their first look this morning.

The Guardian went along to take a look and, speaking to customers leaving the shop most think it will be an asset to the town.

Jill Smith said: “I think it’s fine, it will do well here. It’s great for the local people who do not have cars and cannot get to Morrisons or Lidl.

“It’s brilliant that the shop is back up and running.”

Sue Green said: “I thought it was very impressive. It is nice and clean, easy to go round and I will definitely go again.”

Malcolm Fewtrell said: “We are not local to the area but if we had one near us in Buckinghamshire we would certainly go shopping there.

“In comparison to Lidl, we went to one local to us in Uxbridge and it was totally disorganised and a poor shopping experience whereas this was very impressive.”

Audrey Taylor said: “It’s lovely, we’re pleased it is back because we missed Tesco.

“We are only around the corner so it’s great for us and the new car park is better than what it was.”

Some customers were concerned about one aspect of the new car park.

Leanne Faulkner said: “The mother and baby spaces have been moved.

“Parents campaigned with Tesco to get the spaces moved and now they have been moved back where they originally where.”

The concern is that these spaces are now on an incline which could prove difficult for parents with prams as well as their shopping trolley.

Leanne added: “The trolleys do not have brakes on them either. Other than that I cannot fault it. The prices seem good and the Jack’s products are cheaper as well.”
