ARCHITECTURAL design consultancy Nigel Daly Design has scored two major coups.

In April Hulmefield Hall, a new 14,000 square foot house in Cheshire, which was designed by the Knutsford-based practice, won the Best New Dwelling in the north west at the LAB Building Excellence Awards.

The award entitles entry to the National LABC Building Excellence Awards in London in November.

In September the practice was invited to contribute to this year’s Parliamentary Review, submitting one of the 10 contributions celebrating Industry Best Practice in the architecture, design and development section of the Construction and Engineering issue.

The Parliamentary Review was launched at a gala reception in London this month, to which the company founder Nigel Daly and managing director Brian Vowles were invited.

Nigel Daly Design is based in King Street, and was founded in 1985 with the aim to incorporate the nuances of modern culture into period buildings.

The practice employs six people, and also won the Grand Designs Best Restoration for Bletchley Manor in Shropshire.

The foreword in the Parliamentary Review is written by Prime Minister Theresa May, in which she says: “I believe that Britain can look to the future with confidence.

“We are leaving the EU and setting a new course for prosperity as a global trading nation.”
