PROPERTY marking kits are being made available for free for Lower Peover residents.

Lower Peover Parish Council has bought Selecta DNA kits for every resident to protect their valuables from burglary.

The kits are an effective way to reduce the risk of crime when used with signs that have already been installed in the village.

Each kit is unique, meaning they can make property identifiable to the police if it is stolen.

The use of Selecta DNA in communities has shown the area is less likely to be targeted for theft than an area which has not been covered, reducing burglary by up to 83 per cent.

The next session for issuing the kits takes place on Tuesday, October 16 at 6pm at Lower Peover Primary School.

The kits will be available to collect following a short presentation by Cheshire Police.

Sarah Morgan, the new clerk to Lower Peover Parish Council, said: “We would like every resident to take up this offer, and if you are not able to attend please let the parish council know via phone or email, and we will arrange a suitable time for you to be issued with your kit.”

The parish council can be contacted by calling 07958 055158 or by emailing lowerpeoverpc@tiscali.co.uk
