TALENTED young designer Andrew Reus Leighton has his portable dog bed on show this week at a major exhibition.

Andrew is a student at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, and the Young Furniture Makers Exhibition is taking place at The Dutch Church and Furniture Makers’ Hall in London.

It is organised by The Furniture Makers’ Company, a City of London livery company and the furnishing industry’s charity.

The exhibition was set up for schoolchildren, students and graduates to showcase their work and meet potential employers and members of the Company, giving them networking opportunities and the chance to receive valuable feedback.

A school spokesman said: “For the third year running the school has managed to get into the finals of Young Furniture Makers Exhibition.

“Andrew Reus Leighton has been awarded a commendation for his portable dog bed.

“The judges were charmed by Andrew’s product, and thought it was very interesting and well thought-out.

“They think the dog bed has huge potential as it could be more than a dog bed.

“Andrew has been invited to exhibit his product at this prestigious event.”
