THIS half-term, Cheshire’s Favourite Days Out network is making it easier for families to save money at top attractions while school's out with a series of downloadable vouchers.

Blakemere Village has an offer on its Polly Pig Trail and there are chances to save money at Halloween horror events at Tatton Park, Lion Salt Works Museum and Port Sunlight Village.

Alternatively enjoy fresh air and thrills by climbing to the tree canopy with Go Ape, appreciate the autumnal glories of Ness Gardens or by float through the air on a boat at Northwich’s 'cathedral of the canals', the Anderton Boat Lift.

Favourite Days Out vouchers also make history and science even more affordable at the Hack Secret Bunker, Catalyst Museum and Jodrell Bank.

Trip the Light Fantastic

Between October 20 and November 2, Northwich’s Blakemere Village will transform its 15-acre wood into a magical light-filled wonderland with sounds, lights and water that will bring the woodland to life. Tours start at 6pm and can be booked at magicalwoodland.com. With Favourite Days out, one child goes free on Blakemere Village’s Polly Pig Trail.

Halloween Horrors

With Favourite Days Out, four Halloween Horrors are available for the price of one at Tatton Park in Knutsford. Visitors to Tatton Farm will have the chance of getting into the neo-classical mansion and 50-acres of award-winning gardens at no extra cost.

This means they can make the most of four Halloween events between October 21 and 29.

They can shiver with ghosts while learning about paranormal activity and secret legends in the Medieval Old Hall. Go on the ‘I spy’ trail around the Mansion, alternatively risk the Mystery Maze at the Farm or unearth scary spooks in the Secret Garden trail. For more information call 01625 374400.

With Favourite Days Out, a child goes free with a paying adult at Northwich’s Lion Salt Works Museum, including on October 27 when there will be a ‘night of frights’ for children aged between four and nine as they meet ghostly characters who come out to play at night on a spooky trail of the museum.

For more information call 01606 275066. Alternatively, Port Sunlight Village Museum, Wirral, is offering two-for-one entry and is holding a series of Halloween activities which could be combined with some after-hours ghostly walks and Halloween crafts. Outdoor Fun and Nature

For those crave the open air, Go Ape offers a 10 per cent discount to explorers of its tree-top rope course. Northwich’s Anderton Boat Lift, recent winner of Large Tourist Attraction of the Year 2018, is offering 25 per cent off two or more fully-priced boat trips.

This is a chance to floated through the air from river to canal on this piece of Victorian engineering or alternatively enjoy a trip along the picturesque River Weaver.

There is a £2 discount off each ticket to Cheshire Oak’s Blue Planet Aquarium (up to six people), alternatively, with Favourite Days Out there is two-for-one entry at Ness Botanic Gardens, Wirral.

This is a chance to marvel at the autumnal colours in the 64-acre site as well as be part of Halloween craft activities on October 24 and 25 and October 30 and 31.

Horribly interesting history and scintillating science

A child goes free with a paying adult for those interested in horribly interesting histories. For 50 years the Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker near Nantwich was a secret. Its large underground complex, intended as the centre of Regional Government in the event of a nuclear war, tells the fascinating and chilling story of the Cold War from one of its nerve centres.

This offer also applies to the Catalyst Science and Discovery Centre which explores the science and technology behind the chemical industry and explains the presence of much of much of Cheshire’s chemical industry.

Two-for-one entry is available at Norton Priory in Runcorn. Families can enjoy the newly refurbished museum with its delightful 18th century walled garden, woodland and artefacts from its 900-year history.

Katrina Michel, chief executive for Marketing Cheshire, said: “Half-term and Halloween can be an expensive time for families. Favourite Days Out vouchers give substantial discounts to top quality tourist attractions across Cheshire, making it more affordable to have family fun at amazing attractions.”
