A CYCLIST was taken to hospital this morning after being involved in a collision with a car in Goostrey.

The 67-year-old woman from Macclesfield was turning into Church Bank from Main Road when the accident happened.

The woman, who received injuries to her legs, is the second cyclist this year to be involved in an accident at the junction, which is yards away from the village's primary school.

Cheshire East Council has previously refused to introduce road safety measures at the junction because it is not considered an accident hotspot.

A local resident who went to help the woman said: "She was obviously distressed and had an injured leg which the paramedics strapped up before she was taken to hospital, but she was fortunate she was wearing a helmet.

"I don't know how the accident happened but the sun was very

bright and low this morning."

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "At 9.56am police were called to Church Bank in Goostrey following reports of a collision involving and car and a cyclist.

"The cyclist, a 67-year-old woman, was taken to Macclesfield Hospital with injures that are believed to be minor."
