A MODERN fairytale featuring rap and electronic music comes to Northwich in October.

Common Lore, by Stute Theatre, has been developed for young adults and features rap, spoken word, live projection and live electronic music.

The 'modern take' on fairytales will be shown at the Lion Salt Works on Friday, October 12, when traditional stories and modern life will collide.

The show explores the challenging world young people inhabit and is told by one young woman, Scarlett, and her mobile phone.

Scarlett reinvents the childhood stories told to her by her nan and makes sense of an increasingly challenging world that shapes her future path in a unique way.

The fast-paced show entertains with its reinvention of traditional theatre, technology and the spoken word.

Cllr Louise Gittins, Cheshire West and Chester Council cabinet member for communities and wellbeing, said: “This imaginative and highly entertaining show is designed to appeal to young people with its interesting reinvention of ideas and the way it incorporates rap, music and live projections.

"It promises to be a fun, high-energy and thought-provoking evening.”

The 7.30pm show is part of the Cheshire Rural Touring Arts Autumn season.

Tickets are £9 for adults and £6.50 for under-17s. Family tickets are also available.
