A NEW family run sweet shop has opened in Blakemere Village and offers residents a vast range of American and traditional sweets.

Cheryl Hughes, 39, from Barnton, opened Nanna Parry’s in early July and is fulfilling a lifelong dream.

Named in honour of her mum Pam who died in 2012 and her grandmother Beatrice who died in 1998, Nanna Parry’s stocks American, retro and traditional sweets including pick‘n’mix, as well as Cheshire’s famous Snugburys ice-cream and a range of party sweet cones and hamper gifts.

Cheryl said: “My mum and my nanna were the two most important women in my life so it seemed fitting to name the business in honour of them both.

“It was a very proud and emotional moment when the sign went up above the door and I’d know they’d really love everything about the shop.

“For the last 18 years I’ve been busy raising my children but now that they’re a bit older it’s time to do something for me and pursue my ambition of having my own sweet shop.

“We’ve worked really hard to make sure we offer all the traditional family favourites as well as something a bit different and so have sourced lots of sweets from America.

“I’ve visited a lot of sweet shops with the kids over the years and we’ve only ever seen the choice we offer in cities like Manchester, so we’re excited to be bringing something new to Northwich.

“We’ve had a brilliant reaction so far and our lollies, cola cubes, choc-lick and mega sours are proving a big hit already.”

Nanna Parry’s can be found at Unit 4 in The Courtyard at Blakemere Village and takes over the former Chocolate Box shop.
