BOLTON, which has a tradition of producing funny men including the likes of Peter Kay and Stu Francis, may have discovered another in the form of Cash Wallwork.

For most Boltonians it’s not a name that trips off the tongue, but his latest funny ukulele ditty on Carrs Pasties is likely to bring him to greater prominence among townsfolk.

A classically trained musician, Bolton born Cash, 41, is more used to playing the piano and singing around the pubs and clubs of Bolton/Bury and Radcliffe where he now lives.

The boss of an automatic door business by day was often to be found playing songs and singing the songs of Billy Joel, Elton John and his all time hero 60s singer Bob Dylan, at places in Bolton, which included Ye Old Man and Scythe, The Cave and the Blind Tiger.

The ukulele has come relatively late for the man from Kearsley but once he was bitten by the bug he says he couldn’t put it down.

He explained: “It’s much harder than the guitar to play, but since I took it up last year I was hooked and I prefer it to the guitar. I practise it all of the time.” Cash, who can also play the saxophone and the harmonica, decided that he would use his newly found musical instrument to impress viewers on the You Tube channel where he has built up a loyal following of admirers not just for his songs but also for his humour in between times.

He said: "I don’t think you can beat ‘pasty and peas’ and that was why I came up with a four-minute musical composition, which people seem to like. Honestly, I live to make people laugh and they seem to find it funny.” On You Tube Jennifer Moran said: “This is absolutely fantastic.” While Jack Turner said is was “ace”.

Meanwhile, Carrs bosses who were impressed by Cash’s efforts tweeted: “How brilliant is this video about our pasties and peas.”
