BLOOR Homes North West is looking to make its new home at a proposed new development in Holmes Chapel.

Bloor Homes is seeking planning permission for the commercial development section of a mixed use development, including residential and commercial, on land off London Road.

The reserved matters application to Cheshire East Council follows outline planning approval for a scheme for up to 190 homes and a site for employment land with B1 commercial space development.

Bloor Homes is based in Measham, Leicestershire, and Bloor Homes North West is based in Holmes Chapel. Currently the region directly employs 90 staff, with nearly half of all employees based in the Holmes Chapel office.

A report accompanying the planning application said: “Bloor Homes are committed to undertake the construction of three commercial offices within this development, with a total footprint of 40,000 square feet.

“All offices are to be retained within the ownership of Bloor Homes, and Bloor Homes North West staff will take occupancy of 20,000 square feet as their new regional head office for the north west.”

The commercial development site lies to the south east of the overall development site, running along London Road, next to the proposed nature reserve and retained woodland.

The western side of the boundary would be defined by a new planted zone which would separate the commercial development from the housing development.

A new vehicle access road into the commercial site is proposed from London Road, and the proposed car park layout would provide 155 car parking spaces, including six disabled spaces.

The proposed buildings are two-storey offices. One would be internally fitted out to Bloor Homes North West’s requirements, and the others would be open plan lettable units.

“The scale and massing of the proposed works is considered in keeping with its surroundings, and the proposal is an appropriate size in relation to the buildings use and its context within the site,” added the report.

The deadline for comments on the application is July 5, and the decision target date is August 28.
