WEAVERHAM Forest Pre School has been rated ‘outstanding’ following the recent Ofsted inspection.

The nursery achieved the rating in the fields effectiveness of leadership, quality of teaching, personal development and outcomes for children.

Insp Susan Rodgers said: “The dedicated and experienced management team has a clear and passionate vision for the pre-school.

“Staff consistently evaluate what they do and respond quickly to make changes to improve outcomes for children.

“The partnerships with parents and other professionals are outstanding.

“There is excellent communication with regard to children's progress and all work together with great efficiency to ensure children sustain remarkable progress in their development.”

The inspector was also impressed with the approach to safeguarding at the nursery.

Insp Rodgers said: “Staff work closely with parents and professionals, such as health visitors, to precisely target additional funding and ensure they meet children's needs well.

“The manager rigorously monitors the effectiveness of the support provided by staff so that children reach their full potential and any gaps in their learning are identified and swiftly closed.”

The report also offers the nursery advice on how to improve the already high standards.

The inspector said: “To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should continue to seek professional development opportunities for all staff to extend their already excellent knowledge and skills. “

The nursery excels in outcomes for children according to the report.

Insp Rodgers added: “All children make substantial and continual progress in their development. They develop a vast range of skills, are extremely positive and enthusiastic, and always ready to learn.

“Children are extremely confident in their own abilities and develop the essential skills for the move on to school.”

Helen Walters, manager of the pre-school, said: “We’ve worked so hard to get the ‘outstanding’ rating, it’s something I’ve wanted to achieve since the last inspection.

“I’ve worked really hard and worked with outside agencies and professionals and I’ve been driven to get it.

“We’re a good team here and we work well together.

“The main thing here is that all the children here are happy.”
